Wollaton Hall

Filed under: Uncategorized — fosseblog @ 8:52 am

The children in years three and four visited Wollaton Hall in Nottingham on 13th and 14th of Novemeber. We had a fantastic day. We looked at a Tudor kitchen, found out about explorers and learned some Tudor dances. We even got to dress up in Tudor costumes and perform a Pavane to Sir Thomas Willoughby. What a fantastic day. Definitely the best trip ever!

How Mrs Ball’s class go GREEN!!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — fosseblog @ 2:53 pm

We save energy by closing the windows when we have got the heating on, and closing the doors behind us. and now some of our parents are leaving ther car keys at home and walking to school! Mrs Ball makes us switch of the lights when we leave the class room. Some of the children from Mrs Ball’s class went leaf picking so that  they could put the leaves in the compost bin.

We always  save ENERGY!!!!!!!

Gardening Gang

Filed under: Uncategorized — fosseblog @ 4:12 pm

100_0160.jpgThis term we’ve started making part of the school field into some vegetable plots. A gang of willing helpers has been digging, forking and weeding away to ensure the plots are ready for planting. This week we had a large delivery of horse manure which will now go into the plots to enrich the soil. Our first challenge will be to grow potatoes, Lady Crystal variety, as part of a science and farming initiative for the Lincolnshire show. The aim is to grow 3 sets of potato plants: a control set as directed by the seed potato packaging, and 2 other sets which change the suggested growing factors e.g. less light, less water, lower temperature. We will show our findings at the Lincolnshire Show in June.

Science

Filed under: Uncategorized — fosseblog @ 10:58 am

Science is ace especially with Miss Smith and experimenting the magnets and springs. It was really fun, because we got to fling baskets from rubber bands and chairs. We attached a rubber band to the chair legs and placed the basket infront of it. Next we put different amounts of weights into the basket and flung them. In our group Naomi and Nissa snapped the rubber band and could not replace it with one as stretchy! It was a fun lesson and Miss Smith made it even better.
